The Ultimate Self-Care Guide

Let’s face it, we’re all a little bit stressed out! And guess what… you deserve some well-earned self-care.

If you don’t have a usual self-care routine, that’s okay! We’re here to guide you through it... and if you do have a self-care routine, here are some things you can do to take it to the next level.

Be grateful

When we wake up in the morning, it’s easy to go straight to your phone to check the time or turn off your alarm which is easily followed by checking your social media accounts, messages or whatever it may be.

But, what if you were to turn off your alarm, put your phone down before you get sucked in and think about 3 things you are grateful for? It also helps to write it down, so you can reflect on these before you go to bed after a long day. It is easier than you think! We have so many things to be grateful for and recognising these first thing will change your attitude and perspective on the day.

Get up and move your body

Whether you are working from home or watching Netflix all day, it’s important to move your body, get your heart pumping and your blood flowing. You can do this however you like but it may be going for a walk, doing 10 star jumps, stretching your body or some yoga.

Increase of blood flow will nourish your skin cells, carry oxygen and nutrients to your cells and is pretty much cleansing your body from the inside out. Even better, get out into nature and breathe in the fresh air!

Take a bath

Bathing has so many benefits. It warms your body, increases blood flow, reduces inflammation and calms the nervous system just to name a few.

You can add in some of the following Pevonia products to make it an aromatic, calming and rejuvenating experience:

Marine Magnesium – 100% pure and natural marine magnesium concentrate can deliver advanced pain relief for muscles, cramps, and spasms. Add a generous amount in your bath to soak away the pain! Anti-Stress Bath and Shower Gel Cleanse, hydrate and rinse away stress with a refreshing blend of hazelnut oil, chamomile and lavender, that is sure to leave you more relaxed, moisturised and refreshed!

Micro-Emulsified Massage Oil ‘Anti-Stress’ this nourishing, aromatic massage emulsion relieves tension and fatigue, boosts circulation and restores hydration and elasticity! Perfect for indulging in a hydrating milk bath.

Step up your facial home-care

Invest in your skin and find a range you love that works for you. It’s important to be comfortable in your own skin, and having happy, healthy skin will build your confidence and self-love! It’s also important you are using skincare that doesn’t contain all the nasties – we recommend Pevonia which unite the finest natural marine & botanical ingredients with advanced delivery systems for maximum absorbency and outstanding results.

There are so many more things you can introduce in your daily routine to contribute to self-care. We asked a few friends and here is what they are doing:

  • Meditation every morning to clear the mind before you start your day

  • Send a positive message to someone else and create positive vibes!

  • Journaling – this can relieve stress, clear your mind and allow for self-reflection

  • Find something you are passionate about – this might be makeup, writing, cooking (anything you enjoy doing in your spare time)

  • Rest – know that it is okay to have a day off, slow down and just do nothing!

  • Showering straight after work – of course you’re going to shower after work but why not try to imagine that you are actually washing away all the stress and issues of the day. You might be surprised at how powerful our minds are and what it can do for us! Think about it, when you imagine licking a sour lemon you salivate. Just from imagining an action, your body is responding to it!
